RATINGS: ‘Beyond the Gates’ Maintains in Second Week; While ‘General Hospital’ Has Slight Uptick in Key Demos

The ratings fight is on between CBS’ newest entry into the daytime arena, Beyond the Gates, and longtime soap mainstay, General Hospital. The two shows go head to head in most time zones with some exceptions.

It is often very hard to get a new primetime or daytime show to find its audience, and to keep viewers coming back, but so far things are looking good for the first new soap opera to launch on network television in over 25 years with the ratings report for the week of March 3-7, 2025 via Soap Opera Network.

While Beyond the Gates took a slight dip in total viewers with 1.74 million tuning in (down 70,000 from the previous week) it was still way up over the same time slot last year which was held by The Talk, in fact BTG was up 516,000 viewers from the canceled series.  Conversely, General Hospital came in with total viewers averaging 1,882,000 for the week; which was slightly up by + 30,000.

However, where Beyond the Gates held strong was in its key demos. It beat GH in women 18-49 rating with a 0.24 share, while the ABC daytime drama series came in at a 0.21 share, still up from the previous week by +.02. For the key women 25-54 demo, Beyond the Gates held at a 0.39 rating share versus General Hospital with 0.33. However, GH was up +.05.

It also should be noted that Beyond the Gates, Monday, March 3rd episode, which followed their first cliffhanger Friday; where Dani (Karla Mosley) fired shots at Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Hayley’s (Marquita Goings) wedding, received a larger audience than the series premiere a week earlier among Women 25-54.

The daytime drama ratings champ continues to be CBS’ The Young and the Restless whose total viewers for the week came in at 3,033,000, which was down -147,000 from the previous week. However, its closest competitor, sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful, continued to be in second place with 2,617,000 total viewers only slightly down from the previous week by 22,000.
