Will Eva Turn on Leslie?

Leslie has been obsessed with Ted and Nicole since we met her. She gives me the ick and yet, I can’t help but wonder what she’ll do next. This week added a new layer of resistance from her daughter, Eva. The deeper Eva goes undercover as Nicole’s assistant, the more she becomes #TeamNicole.

And who can blame her? Nicole pumps up Eva’s self-esteem and shows her appreciation for the younger woman’s talents. Eva’s starting to doubt her mother’s side of the story.

I’m now genuinely worried about Eva facing Leslie’s wrath. What happens if she’s not Ted’s daughter after all? What if Nicole rejects Eva after the big reveal? That would  be devastating. What if Ted rejects her? We can only imagine. That daydream she had about her father was so sweet. All Eva wants is to feel like she belongs. Who can’t relate to that?

On the other hand, Leslie’s daydream about Ted was… let’s go with less sweet. She wants to be the wind beneath Ted’s wings. She wants praise heaped on her publicly.

The pacing on this arc has been gorgeous. It’s moving quickly, with nice turns, like Eva having Leslie thrown out of the awards ceremony at which Nicole was to be honored.

Elsewhere In Fairmont…

• Sorry, but the Andre/Ashley/Derek story is a total snoozefest for me. Why in the world would this guy be so interested in Ashley when he’s got a woman like Dani in his life? That makes zero sense to me.

• Speaking of Dani, I’m kinda over her obsession with Bill. I get that she feels betrayed, and that she longs for their happier times. But getting wasted in Bill and Hayley’s home put her dangerously close to Leslie territory. Dani’s a mess and we love her for it, but her world needs to expand.

• How modern and real was the conversation Kat and Chelsea had about the latter being in a throuple? Or Diego telling Vanessa he hadn’t gotten laid — his word, not ours — in ages. I’m sure some in the audience were clutching their pearls at this kind of frank sex talk, but I’ve been dying for a soap to acknowledge that there’s a whole spectrum to human sexuality beyond what we normally see.

• That said, Martin and Smitty need some shaking up. It was fun meeting their teenage kids, but I need the couple to feel like lovers, not roommates. Hopefully, the show will introduce someone new into their mix, if only to make Martin realize how good he has it. Why’s he working so hard to sabotage the person he love’s career?

• Naomi’s reaction to her hubby arresting Dani  was a little over the top.  Glad the rest of her family brought her back down to Earth.

• I want to be more invested in Doug’s gambling storyline than I am. It doesn’t help that so much of it unfolds in what I guess is supposed to be the backroom of the casino, but looks more like a creeper’s basement.
